News Feature from Phoenix Business Journal – Scottsdale tech firm’s new app allows businesses to trade services

News feature Scottsdale Arizona. January 24, 2020. Scottsdale software company, Avontage.com, offers a place for local business owners to exchange their services through an online platform.

What is different about Avontage, is that business owners can convert their services into ‘Avontage Bucks’ to pay for any service on the platform, so it does not have to be a direct trade between two businesses alone.

The idea for Avontage started when the Founder, Sean Sarram was trying to grow his first business, VIP Ride International, and realized they had a lot of slow times and yet limited marketing funds.  He started reaching out to other businesses offering to trade his services for services he needed during his slow times.

In the process, he realized that when he was busy he didn’t continue this type of outreach as it is very time-consuming. After doing a little research he found that there really wasn’t an easy way to do this.  He thought – “why not create a platform to connect like-minded business owners to trade-exchange their excess capacities?”

“The platform is actually a place to go to trade, but many long term connections and friendships come out of it” states Sean.

The platform is location-based so that all business owners are near each other and can offer each other their services or put their services into a pool where they can collaborate with one another.

On Avontage.com, entrepreneurs, influencers, and freelancers can easily find services in their area that they need, without spending the time-consuming leg work it takes to find each other. As Sean states, “often time is the one commodity small business owners don’t have”.

Avontage.com recently started a business advisory board of small business owners that offer what all entrepreneurs need such as website development, publicity, video, social media, and more.

“Two-thirds of small business expenses go to other services such as marketing, so this way they can save money and get the services they need in exchange for their services,” says Sean.

The great thing about Avontage.com is they can use their trade bucks (called Avontage Bucks) to “buy” any service – it does not have to be a direct trade between two businesses. The trades can be for business needs such as marketing or personal offerings such as dental or massage services.

At this time Sean has grown the company to over one thousand business owners, freelancers, and influencers here in the valley.

Next, some of the advisory board members such as Elizabeth Lowney of Creating Buzz PR & Dustin Trout of EIC Agency will be offering classes and podcasts on Avontage to help new business owners who are short on funds, learn about the value and process of these services for themselves.

Additionally, they are starting a ‘Shark Tank’ type of program in the near future.

At this time Sean’s goal is to get to three thousand+ members here in The Valley and then launch nationally.

The Avontage mobile apps are now available in the Apple App Store and Android Play Store and they are free to download.

As Sean states “small biz owners are competing daily with large multi-national corporations but the one advantage we have is the sheer power in our numbers”.

“There are thirty million small business owners and another seventy million freelancers in America who could benefit from Avontage.com.

Their new tag line is ‘Make Avontage Your First Search’.
