Mrs. Angela Davis-Taylor, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

To get to know Angela better, we asked her the following questions:

Tell us about your background, hometown, family, hobbies, passions?

I am a mother of 4 adult children and 6 grandchildren. God gave me a second chance at love, so I am a newlywed, and I feel so blessed. I am also blessed to have both my parents, five siblings, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and so forth. Being from Ohio, many of my family members are back home. I came to Arizona for the weather, I consider it home since I’ve been here 10 years.

I have been around the block…a few times, I’ve worked in critical care, telemetry, med-surge, long term care, oncology, then lastly preop and recovery. People ask why did I not study acute NP and continue to work in the hospitals, the unfortunate part about working in the hospital environment is not having a full follow up, especially in critical care. I enjoy seeing people get better and feel better.

What do you love about Arizona?

Arizona has the best weather!!

Tell us about your business. How long ago and how did you get started? What service(s) or product(s) do you offer?

Daisy Family Health follows the Direct Primary Care Model. Direct Primary Care is a membership-based primary care agreement between a patient and their chosen doctor or nurse practitioner. The patient pays a low monthly membership, usually ranging from $55-$65, and in return gets excellent primary care. These primary care services include whatever you would normally go to your regular primary care provider for, unlimited.
Patient + Provider = Direct Primary Care
No CoPays – No Deductibles – No Filing of Insurance

Who’s your ideal client? What’s the biggest problem you solve for them?

The ideal client does not have insurance, or they have a high deductible. We believe that everyone should have access to good healthcare. At Daisy Family Health we provide affordable healthcare services and offer unlimited office and telemedicine visits to our members.

How do you market your business? How are people aware of your business?

We reach out to local churches, business, and people of the community to inform them of our services. We are also on social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Word of mouth is our best referral source thus far.

Tell us some of the challenges and lessons you’ve learned since you started your business.

When you are financing your own startup, it becomes very challenging. Finding the balance on what to pay for now and what can wait can be discouraging at times, but we are doing a service to the community, it will pay off in due time.

To what do you attribute your success?

Hard work and perseverance. Staying up late when you do not want to, missing out on events to get work finished. Going the extra mile for a patient and offering a service that supersedes their expectations.

Whom do you seek advice from for your business? Whom do you like to follow in the business world? Why?

I seek advice firstly from my husband as he is part of the business as the office executive. I then seek advice from my mother from a patient standpoint. I look to other direct primary care practices and nurse practitioners, especially females.

If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out, what would it be?

Seek a partnership if financing is an issue. Understand that it is a learning curve. Try to at least enjoy 1-2 of the hobbies you have always enjoyed.

How do you achieve work-life balance?

This is challenging, as I give 110%, but I learn to bring enjoyable situations to my current environment at the time. If I am stuck at the office for 12 plus hours, I will actually take a full lunch break to reenergize myself. I also enjoy the church to renew my faith and enjoy good gospel.
